A heart-wrenching sight unfolded when Thor, a beloved pet dog in Sao Paulo, Brazil, was found writhing in agony. Its owner stumbled upon a distressing scene as they discovered the poor creature covered in a multitude of thorns. The painful, yellow quills had taken residence on Thor’s muzzle, forehead, nose, ears, and legs, leaving the once-golden brown dog in great pain.
When Adriano Bertoline found himself unable to cover the costs of his pet’s veterinary bill, he took matters into his own hands and launched an innovative online fundraiser. In a stroke of luck, Dr. Jose Roberto Apolari, a caring local council member, jumped in to lend a helping hand. He personally took Thor, Adriano’s beloved pet, to a nearby clinic and generously assisted with all the expenses involved.
Thor, a playful three-year-old pup, appears to have engaged in a second encounter with a prickly porcupine, resulting in some rather gnarly injuries. In a desperate plea for assistance, Bertoline took to the online platform to seek help in nursing Thor back to health after discovering him pierced by countless porcupine quills.
‘Hey everyone, how’s it going?’ he tweeted. As I opened my eyes this morning, I was greeted with the sight of my pooch in a not-so-great state… Any recommendations for a clinic or vet who could lend a hand? ‘Sadly, I can’t afford to pay.’
Dr. Jose Roberto Apolari, a compassionate councillor, came across the plea of the distressed dog owner and stepped forward to offer his assistance.
On Facebook, Adriano expressed heartfelt gratitude for the invaluable role Dr. Apolari played in his precious pooch’s life. Due to financial constraints, Adriano found himself unable to avail the services of a private veterinarian. However, in a stroke of luck, the councillor stepped in and not only accompanied the dog to the clinic but also generously covered the expenses incurred. Adriano, who is currently unemployed and responsible for four children, couldn’t thank Dr. Apolari enough for this act of kindness. After receiving proper medical attention, Adriano happily welcomed his beloved canine companion, Thor, back into the comforts of home.
Thor’s owner said that this is the second time their dog has come across a porcupine within a span of one year. Back in February 2021, Adriano’s friend, who was employed at a private veterinary clinic back then, helped treat the injured dog.
It was uncertain what state the porcupine was in following its encounter with the dog.
