During Kameroon’s trip to California, a perplexing situation unfolded when Semper Fidelis, a semper who was named after unwavering loyalty, disappeared without a trace. Despite Kameroon’s tireless efforts which included searching the neighborhood, visiting animal shelters, and posting countless signs, Semper seemed to have vanished into thin air. This loss was particularly devastating for Kameroon since she had adopted the husky as a puppy following her diagnosis of acute lymphoblastic leukemia in 2013.
Kameroup sought the assistance of private investigator Ana Campos in their determined search for Semper. Campos suggested that Kameroup check Semper’s AKC reunion chip record, an avenue they had previously overlooked. To Kameroup’s surprise, it was discovered that a woman had added her name to Semper’s chip on April 11, 2016. Further investigation by Campos unearthed a startling truth: Kameroup’s own roommate had stolen Semper and sold him two and a half years earlier. The roommate claimed Semper went missing on April 30, 2016, but the buyer had surreptitiously added their name to the AKC reunion chip on April 11, 2016, without verifying if Semper was already chipped.
After gaining knowledge of the whereabouts of her stolen pet, Cameroon took legal action against the buyer to seek justice. Fortunately, the judge ruled in her favor, and after a long and grueling two and a half years, Semper was finally returned to her loving embrace. Cameroon sees Semper as an extension of herself and her heart, and she is grateful to have him back. This remarkable story serves as a poignant reminder of the unbreakable bond between humans and their beloved pets.
